Dr. Gregory Jantz passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2025.

His legacy lives on through his wife, sons, and the dedicated team at The Center, who continue carrying forward his vision of Whole Person Care and helping people find healing, restoration, and HOPE each day.

The pioneer of Whole Person Care

In 1984, when most mental-health treatment was siloed — talk therapy here, medication there, nutrition rarely considered, spirituality almost never — Gregg founded The Center on a different idea: that the only way to heal a person is to treat the Whole Person.

That meant counselors, psychiatric providers, naturopathic doctors, dietitians, and fitness specialists all working together from one shared treatment plan. It meant taking sleep, exercise, faith, family relationships, and what someone ate for breakfast as seriously as the diagnosis on the chart. At the time, this was radical. Forty years later, the field has slowly caught up.

A teacher, in print and in person

Gregg authored more than forty books on depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, and the spiritual dimension of healing. He worked closely with Ann McMurray on most of them — a partnership that began in 1992 and continued through his last day. His books found their way into homes, churches, hospitals, and counseling offices around the world.

But the writing was always second to the work itself. What Gregg loved most was sitting across from someone in their darkest moments and helping them see, often for the first time, that they were not broken — they were a whole person, and every part of them deserved care.

The work continues
